Adventures at MHC Part 2
By Damien Reaper
Edited By Noah (AkA Jolly Pumpkin)

Damien Reaper is a well known haunt icon that calls Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati, OH his home every haunt season. Below He shares his experiences at the 2009 Midwest Haunters Convention in Columbus, OH. This article focuses mostly on the Friday night Midsummer Monster Bash and Saturday night Masquerade Ball. Click here to view page one which talks about the Tradeshow, Monster Makeup Wars and the Zombie Walk.

I went with Fatso The Clown to Midwest Haunters Convention and we attended Crazy Bob's Hauntertainer University which as a long time actor this is a class which I found to be enlightening. To be re taught how to be an Hauntertainer which I was never really taught helped greatly. They gave us 2 dvds, Hauntertainer University and Geoff Beck's Make-up Guide. While in the class Crazy Bob constantly praised The Dent Schoolhouse as being the best themed haunt he has ever been to in the last 12 years. He said the actors were great and the rooms were just unbelievable.

We sat back thinking to ourselves, wow, because of all the respect The Dent Schoolhouse has earned. After we were finished with Hauntertainer University I went up to my hotel room to put on my costume which was the Biker Damien from 2000 when I worked for Dungeons of Delhi. After my costume was complete I met up with my bosses Chuck Stross, Josh and Leslie wells and cast members Bubba, his girlfriend Tammy, Dr. Helldrake, Bethany, Regina and our incredible Video and Audio Crew known as Under The Gun. Fatso, Helldrake and I ate before I had to perform Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train during the Scaryoke competition. But before I was to perform, I needed to get a bite to eat. So we decided to eat at The Bear Fog Bar which had some great food.

The band for the night was Scarlet Angel and they rocked the joint. Doc Swan's Side Show also performed. He had Fatso on stage doing a trick with him and now him and Fatso are good friends. The Scaryoke contest was about to begin and I had to find enough courage to walk up on stage. I was literally shaking in my urn and when they called my name I slowly walked on stage. Suddenly Damien Reaper took over and took control of the competition while rocking out.

I was watching my Dent Schoolhouse Family having a blast as they watched me perform and I couldn't be happier to have their support. My good friends Scott, Shannon and Diana from Netherworld along with famous horror actor and producer Chuck Williams were shocked at how I can party. And as you can see in the video, I do yell at the end of the song, "Rest in damnation." After I was done with my performance I went upstairs to take a hot shower and to get some shut eye until about 12 am when I went down to the bottom floor and saw Chad Savage, Katie Lane and Midnight Syndicate who are good friends of ours.

The next day I met up with the gang from The Dent Schoolhouse and walked the tradeshow floor for a couple hours. I saw Steve and Allen from USS Nightmare or should I say Allen ran into me. He joked saying what's the Janitor's secrets as he stood behind Bud Stoss's back until Bud Turned around. We were all goofing off. Hours passed and the Monster Makeup Wars began and was a huge blast. My good friends Scott and Shannon from Netherworld took second place.

Later that night the popular Masquerade Ball would take place, but both Fatso and I had to get ready before the party. We put our costumes on and met up with Jasper, Jinx, Dr. Helldrake, Bubba, Tammy, Bethany, Check, Josh, Leslie and are film crew Under The Gun and went down to the ball room for the Masquerade Ball. I saw some great characters from last year such as The Vampire Queen (Ms. Scary Midwest '08), Granny and Crazy Bob. The Body Paint show would soon begin and man do I wish the sprinkler would go off then. All I can say is WOW! After the models strutted their stuff, the Miss Scary Midwest Competition started. It was great. This year's winners were 2 females that were conjoined twins. They called themselves Cannibelle.

That night the Hotel's power went off and many haunters took it upon themselves to scare the kids who were there from the video game convention. Many of our actors were a little buzzed, but mostly Fatso who became a party animal. He took off his costume to show his tattoo to some nice looking females. We also met a guy named Jason who plans on bringing a version of Midwest Haunters Convention to Canada. We wish him all the luck in the world. The time was 3 am and we decided to head off to bed.

Early in the morning I got everything packed up and decided to hook up with hung over Fatso and throw our stuff in the car. We would eventually head back to the tradeshow floor and meet Barry, the head of MHC. We took some shots with him and others and sadly we would have to leave. But knowing what we have planned for the haunt fans and Reviewers makes us very excited for the 2009 season.
