Hanna Haunted Hayrides-"Bumpy Ride Straight to Hell"

Genre: Haunted Hayride
Location: 7323 E. Hanna Ave.
Indianapolis, IN 46239
Runtime: 20 min

The most famous haunt at Hanna Haunted Acres is of course the classic hayride. For years this attraction has been scaring families, foes and friends alike. It's a great Halloween attraction that should be experienced at least once if you live in the Indianapolis area.

This is City Blood's 2010 review of Hanna Haunted Hayrides.

What's Good About The Haunt?

Hanna Haunted Hayrides is full of high tech animatronics and scary props every which way you turn. There are many frightful encounters you'll experience from massive creatures that stalk their pray to chainsaw maniacs. Watch out for the larger than life Pumpkin King that rises high in the air or the demonic creature that devilishly warns you of what lies ahead. Hanna Haunted Hayrides is stock full of impressive decor such as the gallpoing Headless Horseman, a creature that pops out of a tree and more. Companies featured include Scarefactory, Scareparts and others.

This hayride has a variety of scenes ranging from a graveyard with an open grave to signs that almost collapse on the wagon. There are many scares that come from overhead like a hangman who drops on the wagon or a spider that attacks from above. This is an action packed hayride from the beginning to the very end before you're chased by a fast moving combine.

What's Bad About The Haunt?

The acting is pretty poor and without the help from animatronics, this hayride wouldn't be as successful as it is. Many of the actors either wear hooded sweatshirts or blood splattered costumes. There were quite a few times where an actor would hysterically laugh or act like a crazy doll baby. The driver of the tractor does a great job at freaking people out by acting like a demented clown, but towards the end he breaks character which defeats the entire purpose of becoming a character.

Hanna Haunted Hayrides is a fun haunt, but some scenes need more detail. There were numerous times where a scene was just to reliant on animatronics and just fell flat in the process. This haunt has some impressive structures, but they aren't used to their full potential. Instead they are inhabited by a single actor who is very ineffective. This is a good hayride, but there are big improvements that could be made.

Customer Service:

Hanna Haunted Acres has plenty of concessions available at their various trailers. You can purchase a hotdog, burgers, snacks, cold drinks and more. There's also an area that plays popular music near Entanglement Corn Maze. $13 is a pretty fair price for a hayride that is full of impressive animatronics and a few intense scenes. Unfortunately the rest of the haunts aren't worth $13 a ticket. For $21 you can enter two haunts and you can tour all 6 attractions for $27. Visit Hanna Haunted Acres' website to fill out a form for a $4 discount on the All Attractions Package.

Final Thoughts:

Hanna Haunted Hayrides is the best haunt at Hanna Haunted Acres. It's fun, lasts a pretty long time and you'll have an entertaining time watching how people react to different scenes. Scenes could use a lot more detail and the actors need a lot more training, but it's still a quality hayride. If you planning on just buying a ticket for one haunt at Hanna Haunted Acres, be certain it's the hayride.
